From September 24th to 27th, 2025, Cafinter S.A. participated in SCAJ 2025, held at Tokyo Big Sight, Japan. The company was part of the ECOM Japan booth, which featured several other coffee-producing origins. For this occasion, Bryan Serrano from SMS Global participated in a parallel agenda of visits to strategic roasters within the ECOM group.

During these meetings, the SMS Verified certification was presented, which focuses on ensuring that farms maintain long-term productivity and optimal conditions for coffee production, addressing various challenges such as climate change. For Cafinter S.A., this represented a valuable opportunity, as it is now possible to offer Costa Rican coffee with the SMS Verified certification.

Representing Cafinter S.A. were Juan Diego Araya and Eduardo Ureña, who met with clients who began commercial relations with the company approximately three years ago following a commercial visit in 2023. This continuity has strengthened bonds and created closer interaction, complemented by visits from the ECOM Japan office and various clients to Costa Rica in recent years, reflecting a growing interest in our origin. The main goal of the tour was to identify trends and opportunities in the Japanese market and continue exploring new business possibilities with roasters interested in Costa Rican coffee and its sustainable practices.
